It is advisable also to change 50 percent of the water weekly and remove uneaten food and other waste from the aquarium daily. These frogs are quite flat and so they can squeeze themselves behind filter or other items in the aquarium. You can put plants like Anubias barteri that will provide good hiding opportunities for the frogs. You do not need to provide artificial shelters for them.
Another one is the African Clawed Frog (Xenopus Laevis) which are freshwater aquarium frogs that exemplify the notion that nature is loathe to mess with a successful adaptation. It is a species of South Africa aquatic frog of the genus Xenopus. It can grow up to a length of 5 inches with a flattened head and body but no external ear and tongue.
The name of this frog is derived from the three short claws on each of its hind feet, which it probably uses to stir up mud to hide itself from the enemies. The life span of these frogs ranges from 5 to 15 years. But some of these freshwater aquarium frogs have been recorded to live for about 30 years. These frogs shed its skin every season and eat their own shedded skin.
